About Dr. Lara Tarocco - Psychotherapist in Surrey
My journey began in Milan, Italy, but in 2004, I moved to the UK.
For the next thirteen years, my professional life was based in Windsor, serving as a commercial lawyer.
Around this time, I also met the man who would become my second husband. After many tries and the emotional turmoil of fertility treatments, we came to terms with the fact that a biological family wasn't in our future. This led us to decide on adoption and to start the path that brought our beloved child into our home.
From Law to Therapy - My Professional Journey
My journey as an adoptive mother to a child who suffered early abuse and neglect taught me the immense importance of emotional support for those with deep trauma. This passion is the foundation of my work in counselling and psychotherapy.
I realised my calling to assist people, particularly those affected by trauma or living with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), was through becoming a counsellor-psychotherapist. And a few years later, look where life has brought me!

- 2021 to 2025 - Borough of Spelthorne Co-ordinator for Family Voice Surrey, a charitable organisation championing the needs and rights of SEND families in Surrey with children or young adults up to the age of 25 who have special educational needs, chronic illnesses, including mental health conditions, or disabilities.
